In the Glass — Tasting Notes

A sun-drenched blend centred on Malbec, with Grenache, Mourvèdre, Petit Verdot and Merlot woven through its juicy red-fruit core. Tobacco leaf, savoury plum and a mineral ironstone edge keep the wine lithe and alive, while floral notes and pomegranate tannin develop generously over the glass. At 13.5% alcohol, it carries the opulence of ripe fruit without heaviness—a wine that speaks of sunshine and concentration.

The Winery — Cullen

One of Margaret River's pioneering family estates, Cullen was founded in 1971 in Wilyabrup and is now led by Vanya Cullen, whose unwavering commitment to biodynamic viticulture has earned her an Order of Australia and double Winemaker of the Year honours. The 2024 vintage benefited from Margaret River's exceptional conditions: unrelenting heat and drought compressed an early harvest into just days, delivering grapes at optimal ripeness from the gravitic, gravelly soils. Two-thirds of the fruit came from the nearby Metricup vineyard and one-third from Cullen's own blocks. Hand-harvested on flower and fruit days, the blend was destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts before eight months in old oak, with nothing added or fined. The winery's philosophy rests on three pillars: Quality, Integrity and Sustainability.
