SommPills
Privacy Policy
Last updated 5 September 2026
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use sommpills.com or place an order, how we use it, and your rights over it.
1Who we are
SommPills — a trading name of SOMMPILLS LTD (company number 17430792), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom — is the “controller” responsible for your personal data. For any privacy question or request, contact us at [email protected]. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under registration [ICO registration number].
2The information we collect
- Identity and contact details — your name, email address, phone number, and delivery and billing addresses.
- Age confirmation — your confirmation that you are 18 or over. We do not keep copies of ID documents unless needed to resolve a specific age dispute.
- Order and payment details — what you ordered, the order value and delivery details, including the delivery day you chose and any delivery instruction (a neighbour, or a safe place). Card payments are handled by our payment provider, Stripe (some orders may be processed by Revolut); we receive confirmation of payment and the last four digits of the card, never the full card number.
- Safe-place photo — if you ask us to leave an order unattended you may add a photo of the spot so the driver finds it (please keep people and vehicles out of it). It is stored privately, shared only with our delivery partner for that delivery, and deleted 90 days after the order.
- Communications — messages you send us, and delivery notifications.
- Technical and usage data — IP address, device and browser information, and cookie data (see our Cookie Policy).
- Marketing preferences — whether you want to hear from us.
3How and why we use it
We use your data on these lawful bases:
- To fulfil your order — deliver your wine, take payment, and handle returns (performance of our contract with you), including sending delivery updates by SMS and email.
- To meet legal obligations — verifying you are 18+, and keeping tax and business records.
- To send marketing by email or SMS — only with your consent, or on a soft opt-in for similar products. You can opt out at any time, and every message includes an unsubscribe.
- To run, secure and improve the site and prevent fraud — our legitimate interests in operating a safe, working shop.
4Who we share it with
We share your data only as needed to run the shop:
- our delivery partner (currently Liberty Wines, whose vans deliver our orders) — your name, address, phone number, delivery day and delivery instructions, so they can deliver;
- a collection partner (the venue you choose at checkout, if you choose collection) — your name and order number, so they can hand over your wine after checking ID;
- our payment providers, Stripe and Revolut — to take payment securely and screen for fraud;
- our website hosting, WooCommerce and IT service providers;
- our email/SMS and analytics providers; and
- authorities or regulators where we are legally required to.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
5Sending data outside the UK
Where one of our providers processes your data outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by an approved safeguard, such as a UK adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.
6How long we keep it
- Order, payment and tax records — 6 years, as required by HMRC.
- Safe-place photos — 90 days after the order.
- Marketing data — until you opt out.
- Other data — no longer than we need it for the purposes above.
7Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to our use of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, contact [email protected]. You can also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk) — though we would appreciate the chance to help first.
8Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls and regular backups. No system is ever completely secure, but we take protecting your information seriously.
9Cookies and changes to this policy
For how we use cookies, see our Cookie Policy. We may update this policy from time to time; the current version is always the one published on this page.
