SommPills
Terms & Conditions
Last updated 5 September 2026
These terms apply to every order placed on sommpills.com. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
1About us and these terms
SommPills is a trading name of SOMMPILLS LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17430792), with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. In these terms “we”, “us” and “our” mean SOMMPILLS LTD, and “you” means the customer placing an order.
You can reach us at [email protected]. By placing an order you agree to these terms.
Who we sell to. We sell wine to private individuals aged 18 or over, for their own personal use only. We do not sell to businesses and not for resale.
2You must be 18 or over — age verification
It is against the law to sell alcohol to anyone under the age of 18. By placing an order you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.
- When you first visit the site you will be asked to confirm that you are 18 or over.
- We operate a Challenge 25 policy on delivery. The carrier may ask anyone who looks under 25 to show valid photo ID (passport, UK photocard driving licence, or a PASS-marked proof-of-age card).
- An adult aged 18 or over must be present to receive the order and may be asked to prove their age. Wine will not be handed to anyone who appears under 25 without ID, or to anyone under 18. It is only ever left unattended, or with a neighbour, on your own written instruction given at checkout — see clause 6.
It is also an offence to buy alcohol on behalf of someone under 18. If age cannot be verified on delivery, the order will not be handed over — see clause 6.
3The wine we sell
Our wines are sourced from established, licensed UK wine importers and distributors, and all stock is duty-paid. Product descriptions, tasting notes, vintages and images are provided in good faith. Vintages and labels can change from time to time; where a vintage differs materially from the one shown we will try to let you know.
Wine contains sulphites. Alcohol-by-volume (ABV) and allergen information is shown where the producer provides it.
VAT. SOMMPILLS LTD is not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to your order and your invoice will not show a VAT amount.
4Your order and our contract with you
Placing an order is an offer to buy. Any acknowledgement we send when you order simply confirms we have received it — it does not mean we have accepted it. Our contract with you is formed only when we dispatch the goods (or email to confirm dispatch).
We may decline or cancel an order — for example if the wine is out of stock, there has been an obvious pricing error, we suspect a purchase for someone under 18, we cannot deliver to your area, or the order appears to be for resale. If we have already taken payment for an order we cannot fulfil, we will refund you in full.
5Price and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP). The price shown is the price you pay for the goods; delivery is free, as set out in clause 6. There is a minimum order value of £200 of wine, measured before any case discount.
Payment is taken at checkout through our payment provider, which processes your card securely. We do not see or store your full card details. If we spot an obvious pricing error before dispatch we will contact you before charging you.
6Delivery
- We deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom (not the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or BFPO) on our delivery partner’s van routes.
- Delivery is free on every order. There is a minimum order of £200 of wine (before any case discount).
- You choose your delivery day at checkout — any Monday to Friday that is not a bank holiday, from two working days after you order. Deliveries are made between 8am and 7pm on that day. If the day has to change we will email you before it, and you may cancel for a full refund if the new day does not suit.
- Delivery to a neighbour. You may ask us to deliver to a neighbour’s address instead of your own. An adult aged 18 or over there must sign for the wine (Challenge 25 applies); once they have signed, the order is delivered and the wine is in their care.
- Where we offer collection from a partner venue, you may choose to collect instead. Your order is held for 7 days from the day you choose; bring photo ID and your order number — our partners apply Challenge 25 at handover. Orders not collected within 7 days are returned to us and refunded less our reasonable return cost.
Your details. You must give us a valid UK mobile number (the driver’s only way to reach you on the day), a correct email address and a complete and accurate delivery address. We email you when your order is confirmed; we do not send SMS updates or live tracking.
If nobody is in. An adult aged 18 or over must sign for the wine. At checkout you tell us one of two things: that an adult will be in to sign, or the safe place at your home where the driver may leave the order if nobody answers. A safe place is your own request: the driver will follow it, the order counts as delivered once it is left there, and a parcel left unattended cannot be watched — so, as far as the law allows, if it goes missing or is damaged in the spot you chose we may not be able to replace it. The spot must be on your property, out of sight and out of reach of anyone under 18. This does not affect your statutory rights.
If delivery cannot be completed — because contact details or the address were wrong or incomplete, or because no adult aged 18 or over was available to receive the order and confirm their age and you named no safe place — we will bring it back another day at no charge the first time. Further failed attempts may be returned to us, and our reasonable return charges may be deducted from any refund.
Risk in the goods (responsibility for loss or damage) passes to you when you, or a person you have nominated to take possession, receive them; where you have asked for a safe place, see the paragraph above.
7Changing your mind — your 14-day right to cancel
As a consumer buying at a distance, you may cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. To cancel, email us at [email protected]. You then have 14 days to return the wine to us.
Condition of a change-of-mind return. All bottles must be unopened and still sealed, in the same condition in which you received them, and returned in their original packaging, which must be intact and reusable. If the original packaging is no longer available or usable, you must return the wine in equivalent protective packaging — wine is fragile, and any breakage in transit on a change-of-mind return is your responsibility.
Return costs. You are responsible for the cost of returning the goods. Return carriage is charged according to your postcode; we will confirm the amount when you arrange the return. We may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in the wine’s value caused by handling it beyond what is necessary to check it.
We will refund you within 14 days of receiving the goods back (or your proof of return), using the same payment method you used to pay.
8Damaged or faulty wine — how to claim
Please check your order as soon as it is delivered. If anything has been damaged in transit, you must tell us within 48 hours of delivery and send photographic evidence. To let us verify the claim with the carrier, your photos must include:
- the shipping label, clearly showing the tracking code and the delivery name and address;
- the external packaging, showing the damage;
- the internal packaging; and
- the broken bottle(s) and their labels, so the affected wine can be identified.
Claims made more than 48 hours after delivery, or without this evidence, cannot be verified, and we may be unable to refund or replace the goods.
Your statutory rights. None of this affects your legal rights. If wine is faulty or not as described, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 — including, in the first 30 days, the right to reject it for a refund. Where goods are genuinely faulty, we will cover the cost of return.
9Please drink responsibly
We want our customers to enjoy wine responsibly. UK Chief Medical Officers advise drinking no more than 14 units per week on a regular basis. For guidance and support, visit drinkaware.co.uk. Never drink and drive.
10Our responsibility to you
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — this includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and for fraud. Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for any business losses, as you are buying as a consumer for personal use.
11Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as carrier disruption, extreme weather, or supply problems. If such an event affects your order we will let you know, and if the delay is significant you may cancel and receive a refund for any goods not yet delivered.
12Privacy, cookies and complaints
We handle your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy, and use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. If something has gone wrong, please email [email protected] and we will do our best to put it right.
13Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales. We may update these terms from time to time; the version in force when you place your order is the one that applies. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest will continue to apply.
