A wine of real precision and restraint. Black pepper, blood orange and pomegranate aromas emerge lifted and savoury, leading to a palate of genuine tension and drive. Structured and mouthwatering, kept resolutely dry by a deliberately low dosage, this Chardonnay-led Champagne blend with Meunier and Pinot Noir in support gains depth from a spell in old barriques and over 20 months on lees. A small portion of barrel-aged red wine adds complexity without heavy colour—serious winemaking, never showboating. At 12% ABV, it remains refreshing and food-friendly throughout.

The Winery — Langham Wine Estate

One of England's most exciting sparkling producers, Langham operates from Crawthorne Farm near Dorset's coast, where Justin Langham plants Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier on clay and limestone slopes. Head winemaker Tommy Grimshaw, fast earning renown as one of England's best young talents, practices minimal-intervention winemaking—indigenous yeasts, full malolactic fermentation, no fining or filtration—allowing the vineyard's character to emerge directly. The IWSC honoured Langham as Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year in 2020. This family-run, independent estate remains true to traditional method rigour, and the long lees ageing plus a technical cork closure reward those patient enough to cellar it, though it performs beautifully now.
