In the Glass — Tasting Notes
Deep crimson and warm, this Southern Rhône blend delivers ripe strawberries and blackberries with a whisper of wild herbs. The palate unwinds with velvety tannins that feel generous rather than demanding. At 15% alcohol, there's weight and presence without harshness—fruit-forward, approachable, and honest.
The Winery — Moulin des Chênes
Laurent and Julien Bréchet took over this vineyard when its previous owner retired, drawn by Lirac's overlooked potential. Their 16 hectares sit across the river from Châteauneuf-du-Pape in a region with equally long vinegrowing roots, now realised through a younger generation and modern technique. The 2023 vintage benefited from ideal conditions: a gentle winter, dry spring, and concentrated heat through late summer. A blend of Grenache (37%), Cinsault (36%), Syrah (15%), and Mourvèdre (12%), the wine was fermented in stainless steel with 15 days on skins, then aged ten months in concrete before bottling—a contemporary approach that keeps fruit in focus and structure clean.
At Your Table — Food Pairing & Serving
Pair with roasted lamb, braised beef, game, or the kind of charcuterie that demands wine with grip. This is Southern Rhône drinking as it should be, ready to drink without pretence. It sits alongside our Full Bodied Red Wine selection and represents some of the finest value in Grenache & Garnacha-led blends from France this year. Natural cork closure; 75cl; drink now through 2028.
