The Winery — Gašper

Gašper is a joint venture between a local cooperative and the Čarman family, whose roots in wine and hospitality span over five decades. Oenologist Darinko Ribolica leads the cellar, bringing modern precision to the region's heritage. The 50-year-old terraced vineyards sit in Goriška Brda's Alpine foothills, where sea breezes and marl soil create ideal ripening conditions. Hand-harvested fruit undergoes skin fermentation in large Slavonian oak, then spends 18 months across new French barrels, Slovenian oak, and stainless steel—a thoughtful blend that gives the wine its smooth palate without overwhelming oak character.
