The Winery — Château de Vaudieu

The Bréchet family has stewarded this 18th-century estate for over 50 years. Laurent Bréchet now leads alongside his daughter Elise from 70 hectares of vineyards—60 planted to red varieties on prized sites neighbouring the famed Château Rayas, just east of the appellation. The name 'Vaudieu' echoes 'Vallée de Dieu', the Valley of God, reflecting the beauty of this corner of the southern Rhône. The 2022 L'Avenue comes from a single vineyard plot sitting high on one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's celebrated hills, where 53-year-old Grenache vines root into sandy soil. Grapes were hand-sorted and destemmed, then fermented in open concrete tanks for a full month with careful punch-downs to build structure, before 18 months in larger oak vessels allowed the wine to settle. The 2022 vintage blessed the region with dry, warm summer conditions that ripened the fruit beautifully.
