In the Glass — Tasting Notes

A luminous straw-gold Favorita that captures apple-orchard freshness married to stone-fruit sweetness and whispers of wild herbs. The palate is round and smooth, balanced beautifully between bright acidity and ripe fruit weight, with a mineral backbone that keeps everything honest and food-ready. A lingering finish without heaviness — the kind of white that tastes like somewhere, shaped by the low-rainfall Colli Tortonesi hills where it was grown.

The Winery — Vigne Marina Coppi

A four-hectare family estate established in 2003 in Castellania, home to cycling legend Fausto Coppi. Marina, Giovanni, Francesco and Anna blend traditional Piedmont heritage with modern winemaking expertise, working exclusively with native varieties including Favorita. The grapes for this wine come from two parcels in the Madonna locality and nearby Gabetto vineyard — sites marked by extreme day-night temperature swings that sharpen acidity and build flavour intensity. The 2021 season proved particularly favourable: a cold spring kept yields low, then a hot, dry summer concentrated the fruit. In the cellar, grapes were gently crushed and fermented slowly at cool temperatures, then aged ten months on lees in stainless steel with periodic stirring. Bone-dry, sustainably made, vegan-friendly, and sealed with a Diam closure.

At Your Table — Food Pairing & Serving

This is the calibre of white that rewards both immediate drinking and cellar time — drink it now or age gracefully over the next five or six years. Its mineral precision makes it perfect with shellfish, delicate white fish, creamy goat cheeses, poultry, and the region's famous fontina. Equally at home as an aperitivo or with spicy Asian cuisine. This sits at the refined end of our Fruity & Aromatic White Wine selection, a wine that speaks of place and rewards attention.
