The Winery — Tablas Creek

Founded in 1987 by the Perrin family (owners of Château de Beaucastel) and the Haas family, Tablas Creek recognised that Paso Robles' Mediterranean climate was ideally suited to Rhône varieties. Planted in 1989 with cuttings imported from Beaucastel's estate, the vineyard has been certified organic since 2003 and biodynamic since 2017—and in 2020 became the first winery to attain Regenerative Organic Certification. The 2019 blend marries Roussanne's weight and texture (63%) with Grenache Blanc's aromatic lift (20%), rounded by Picpoul and Picardin for herbal snap and minerality. Whole-bunch pressing and native fermentation preserve delicacy; the Roussanne's time in large oak and foudres builds depth without heaviness.
